"chick or treak!" this is how tate says trick or treat this year. i love him being three.
the boy's costumes this year were so much fun! when trying to decide what to be for halloween, they kept asking to be ninja turtles. i didn't want to squash their own costume ideas, but really? ninja turtles? not my first pick.
then one afternoon the boys were playing "science" - something quinn learned at school when they mixed food color together to make different colors. they love to do this. so i said, "what about being a scientist for halloween?" and quinn loved the idea. now, i'm not one of those moms that dresses her kids alike all the time. but tate wants to do everything that quinn does - in exactly the same way. so after a few other suggestions that tate shot down, i made them both scientist costumes.
last year i found a great halloween costume photography tip on brooke snow's blog. she said to make halloween night more fun + less stressful, dress your kids in their costumes and take photos before halloween night. um, genius! I get to control the light and no freaking out about getting somewhere on time while the beautiful natural light is fading fast. and the kids love any reason to put on their costumes. win - win!
the local outside mall hosts an afternoon trick or treat event the weekend before halloween. perfect timing + beautiful light. so we took the boys and went with my sister and her kids to do a little pre-halloween trick or treating.
