it didn't go as planned

pumpkin carving didn't go as planned... tate was grumpy and whiny and didn't even want to sit at the table with us to carve the pumpkins.

quinn didn't like the way the pumpkin smelled when mark cut the top off of it. he held his nose most of the time.

neither one of the boys wanted to put their hands in the pumpkin to clean it out. mark wasn't a big fan of this part either.

quinn said "ewww!" when i said i was going to roast the pumpkin seeds so we could eat them.

tate lost his patience with the whole process and wanted to play with the ipad. and then cried when we said no.

quinn wanted to carve the pumpkin with a little knife. can we say danger?

quinn lost his patience with the carving part since he couldn't help out and started bugging tate.

the boys ended up watching the octonauts on tv while mark and i finished carving the pumpkins all by ourselves.

at least the boys were excited about the end result. they liked seeing the pumpkins with little electric tea lights flickering inside of them. maybe it will be different next year?

scenes from a pumpkin patch

even though it is still hot here in south florida and it doesn't really feel like fall, we took the kids to the local pumpkin patch. my sister and her kids came too. the kids got to play together, paint pumpkins and be their usual silly selves. and yes, it is perfectly normal to wear shorts and flip flops to the pumpkin patch in mid-october. i can hardly believe how much my boys have grown since i took these pumpkin patch photos...
